SAS SEED2S Peer Mentors are SAS Data Science undergraduate students who cultivate meaningful relationships with their mentees throughout the academic year. Trained in holistic student development theories, they employ service strategies that nurture belonging, elevate persistence, and inspire achievement.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Full-time Rutgers – New Brunswick undergraduate.
  • Rising Sophomores, Juniors, or Seniors.
  • Successful completion of Data 101.
  • In good standing with the University.
  • Well-versed in campus resources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.

Mentor Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support, encouragement, and referrals to campus services for mentees.
  • Serve as a guide for cultural, social, and personal concerns.
  • Initiate meet-and-greets and phone outreach for assigned mentee groups.
  • Ensure timely referrals of student issues to SEED2S professional staff.
  • Participate in mandatory monthly training and meetings.
  • Arrange monthly meetings with mentees and offer ongoing assistance.
  • Join in planning SAS Peer Mentor Program events.
  • Record outreach and in-person activities with mentees in a summary.
