We are committed to enriching the student experience by connecting students with campus collaborators and external partners, creating meaningful opportunities for experiential learning.

SEED2S+X advances the Rutgers-New Brunswick Academic Master Plan, Pillar III, enhancing the student experience, improving belonging, retention, and enriching co-curricular experiences. It aligns with the School of Arts and Sciences Strategic Plan, Goal 1, cultivating meaningful relationships and collaborating with partners to provide sustained support, strengthen career readiness, and promote post-graduation success in data science.

Through strategic access to resources, SEED2S prepares students for experiential learning opportunities and offers tailored +X components—targeted programs and partnerships. Some of these initiatives are offered exclusively to participants of the peer mentoring program (PMP), providing unique benefits. By expanding access to research, co-curricular activities, and hands-on experiences, SEED2S empowers students to excel academically and professionally, equipping them for long-term success beyond graduation.  For more information, visit the FAQs page. 

SEED2S+X: Strategic Partners

Our flagship partnership with Reveal Global Consulting empowers SAS SEED2S scholars with real-world data science experience by diving deep into publicly available datasets and building dashboards to visualize trends and disparities. Leveraging advanced data analysis and predictive modeling, they identify and strategize solutions for pressing real-world challenges, all while receiving funding support from SEED2S and technical mentorship from Reveal’s data scientists in the Statistics Modernization group to eliminate barriers to success.

Meet the SEED2S+Reveal Scholars

SAS SEED2S partners with MiraKare to offer students a unique academic and professional growth opportunity. Our scholars analyze MiraKare's platform data, extracting insights to improve effectiveness. This jointly paid program provides hands-on data analysis experience, directly contributing to MiraKare's mission of empowering caregivers for those facing communication challenges. Scholars building a portfolio of real-world data science experience.

Meet the SEED2S+MiraKare Scholars

In coordination with the Computer Science Department, SAS SEED2S hosted GRIT - Girls Re-Imagining Tomorrow, an organization dedicated to introducing diverse middle school girls to technology-focused careers, particularly in cybersecurity and AI. Founded in 2017 to address the shortage of women in cybersecurity, GRIT aims to inspire girls to explore technology careers and envision their future. In partnership with Cisco, we welcomed middle school students, along with their chaperones and program managers, to the RU-NB Busch campus.

In collaboration with the Aresty Research Center, SEED2S leadership identifies data science projects and conducts targeted outreach to eligible students. The Aresty Summer Science Research Program provides a unique opportunity for first-year students to immerse themselves in research, even without prior experience. With mentorship from faculty and access to hands-on projects, students can develop essential research skills while exploring their interests in a supportive and engaging environment. SAS SEED2S is dedicated to empowering and supporting selected scholars, chosen based on their academic coursework in data science, to ensure they possess the necessary skill set for success in their projects.

The partnership between SAS SEED2S and the Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship Academy (IDEA) began with the promotion of the Summer 2024 IDEA Microinternship shared with the SAS SEED2S cohort. Our goal is to expand this collaboration and explore new structures to enhance student participation. Three SEED2S Spring 2024 mentees took part in the 2024 IDEA Microinternship—check out the picture below!

SAS SEED2S and the Institute for Health, Health Care Policy, and Aging Research (IFH) inaugural cohort will gain research experience designed to enhance academic and professional skills while fostering a sense of community. The goals of the internship are to develop and expand students’ knowledge and skills in managing and analyzing data and to gain practical experience in performing public health, biomedical, and social science research. This fully immersive experience includes workshops, seminars, social events, and valuable networking opportunities while receiving financial support to remove any barriers to participation.

Inspired by other successful SEED2S+X partnerships, the program with Rutgers Athletics-Women’s Rowing aims to offer real-world opportunities and hands-on learning experiences for Data Science scholars. Participants will engage in dynamic activities while receiving financial support to ensure their success and accessibility.
